Supporting FairLoc
I’m proud to share that I have become a Supporter of FairLoc, an organisation to set up to champion human content and preserve the creativity which is such an important part of our art as translators and copywriters.
Why did I decide to join?
As the FairLoc website says, “Bright ideas come from the heart. Inspiration can’t be automised. It emerges organically from the human mind.” I couldn’t agree more! FairLoc’s values of authenticity and creativity are perfectly aligned with my own as a translator and copywriter, and so its mission as an organisation truly resonates.
I pride myself on approaching projects with authenticity, creativity and an artisan’s touch because I believe that translation and writing are not just about words - they are about people and context. I put my heart and soul into my translation and writing projects, and I believe in the value that professional translators like myself can provide.
From a marketing perspective, well-crafted human translation and writing is more important than ever for companies that want to stand out from the crowd, be respected and attract customers in a sea of automated content. Think about it - we are all consumers - how do YOU feel when you are served something you can tell is written by a bot? I know for me personally that I don’t enjoy that kind of experience, nor does it make me feel like a valued customer.
What does being a Supporter mean?
Being a Supporter of FairLoc demonstrates my professional commitment to defending and advocating for the role of human creativity in translation and copywriting, plus fair practices in the localisation industry. The digital seal of assurance that you see on my website is a symbol of the values I hold dear. This does not mean shunning technology altogether—rather, using it as a tool that supports the real work of navigating cultural and creative nuance, finding the right register and tone of voice and perfectly pinpointing messages in my translations and writing in English.
