About me

A love affair with languages and Italy

I have been fascinated by languages and culture since I was a little girl, opting to study French and German at school and collecting dolls in national costumes which my Grandma would gift me from her travels.

Choosing to study Italian at Lancaster University, I went on to spend my Erasmus year at Università degli Studi di Parma - an experience which changed my life. I fell completely in love with everything about Italy and felt a deep connection to the country and its people.

I am very lucky to currently live in beautiful Cornwall in the UK, but I can’t stay away from Italy for too long. Friends and family connections in the Lazio and Puglia regions mean I am happily often back in my spiritual home.

A successful career in international communications

After university I pursued a career in global PR and marketing for 20 years. Working with international brands and businesses led to many incredible opportunities - living in Switzerland for two years and travelling frequently across America, Europe and the Middle East.

These experiences shaped me personally and professionally, helping me to develop the skills to communicate cross-culturally. Having worked in a variety of PR and communications roles, both in agencies and in-house as part of bigger marketing teams, I bring a unique perspective and valuable marketing knowledge and expertise to projects.

My roles in marketing and PR have also incorporated oversight of the translation process, equipping me with insight from every perspective when it comes to content development and localisation.

A dream to become a translator

I found myself wanting to use my Italian more proactively, and to return to study to complete a Masters degree. In 2022, I decided to take the leap and enrol with the University of Bristol’s MA Translation programme.

As a translator, I believe you do your best work when you are passionate about your fields of expertise and truly understand the audience you are communicating with. Perhaps you even are the audience, which is true in my case!

With a decade spent working in publicity for global media and entertainment companies, and my love of the arts, culture and travel, I’m committed to sharing my knowledge and expertise in these sectors through impactful translation, writing and marketing which gets the message across.
